... Just a little bit about the Bay Leaf Café
Sometimes dreams do come true – the Bay Leaf Café is one of those times – not only for the owners and staff but
also for the diner. A culinary adventure that will say to your tongue ‘wake up this tastes good’!
Since 1993 the Bay Leaf Café has consistently used only the finest and freshest ingredients for their menu.
Partners French Bryan and Taffy Tucker have been in the restaurant and tourism business since 1975. When they
decided to open the Bay leaf they made a commitment to serve dishes they would be proud of and treat their
customers as family. You are eating at their table, French is the Chef and Taffy is your hostess.
The Bay Leaf Café building was built in 1892 as the Queen City Hotel and went through many years of neglect until
rescued and remodeled in 1993 by French and Taffy. The community welcomed this new venture with open arms, so much
that the Spearfish Beautification Committee bestowed its first-ever Business of the Month Award to the Bay Leaf just
days after the restaurant opened.
The Bay Leaf Café not only presents fine dining in a great atmosphere they also support the local arts community
by featuring local artist’s work. A changing selection of art work hangs on the walls and is offered for sale.
Today the Bay Leaf Café family includes the Café, the Carriage Room for events, Berry’s Best Desserts, Bay Leaf
Café’s catering service, and Guides to Go a step on service for motor coach groups.
